Step 1

Romanesque Masterpieces

Our half-day walk (about 2.5 hours) will begin in Piazza Grande, the authentic symbol of Modena, surrounded by historical buildings of great charm.

Overlooking the square are the Duomo (Cathedral), a majestic Romanesque cathedral considered one of the most beautiful in northern Italy, and the elegant Torre Ghirlandina, from the top of which you can enjoy a splendid view of the city and its surroundings.

Step 2

Palazzo comunale

We will then visit the Palazzo Comunale (Town Hall), decorated with highly valuable frescoes and linked to the curious story of the famous “stolen bucket” (secchia rapita), a 13th-century war trophy.

Step 2

Gastronomy

We will immerse ourselves in the authentic atmosphere of the Mercato Albinelli, the heart of the local gastronomic tradition.

Step 3

History, Faith, and Power

Continuing our itinerary, we will venture through quiet, memory-filled alleys, and then cross the ancient Jewish Ghetto district, where the 19th-century synagogue stands. Here we will breathe in an atmosphere suspended in time, discovering the traces of a community that has profoundly enriched the city’s cultural and commercial fabric.

The walk will conclude in front of the Palazzo Ducale, an elegant Baroque residence, today the seat of the prestigious Military Academy of Modena.
